Quick update on the progress of the new CD. I've just finished mastering my CD with Carl Saff. It sounds great. Meanwhile I've been recording a slew of new tracks for my next solo cd, our next duo cd and guitar tracks for Victoria's new cd. We had a generous benefactor donate some much needed funds for new recording equipment... and it's made all the difference in the amount of work I can do with my hands and how fast. We're both super excited about our new projects and I'm pumped about my cd finally being mastered. Now - cover art and production... and I might shop this one around instead of releasing it independently.

Summer's been great. We've just returned from two trips, one to Sundance in northern Utah and another from Newport Beach... the water was amazing. I love the ocean. We've been hiking lots and I've been just cranking it on writing songs... some of my favorites ever in the past few days.

 Putting together a tour for the fall - looking forward to seeing more of this beautiful country. Some beautiful new nature and some beautiful new people.

Victoria and I have been writing our best material yet...

On a writing spree for duo material and solo material. 

We're looking forward to upgrading our recording system later this summer. 

Than we'll start recording all the ideas that are incubating. 

Super busy lately. Learning tons of other peoples songs. 

Once I reached a certain point I was of the mind "What's the point in spending time learning other's songs when I could be writing." - Well... I still think that - mostly. And I've got hundreds of sound clip ideas on my iPod just waiting for some attention.  

But... to an extent  spending time learning other's songs is fun and increases my musical tools, - very important and spawns new ideas. 

Listening to lots of Sade, Stevie Wonder, Bob Dylan and the new Kings of Convenience CD is cool.  And Paul Simon - Surprise is genius as to be expected from him.

Getting outside as much as possible in the business. I live in a paradise, so I try and connect with nature as much as possible... because someday this phase will be over and we'll blow away somewhere else.  I want to drink up all the beauty of Zion. 

My new CD is done and awaiting funds for mastering and printing. Should have it ready to release this fall. It's my favorite currently.

I'm already about 20 songs into the next one ( for 2011) I've just got to see which ones belong together, which is a huge process sometimes. The relationships between the Keys the balance of up-tempo, mid-tempo and ballads - which are the bulk of most of my latest cds.  This new system we're going to get will cut my editing time by about 75%. And the use of my hands on the computer by that much too... which is a relief. 

I couldn't play guitar for about a year due to hand problems in 2008 - related to repetitive strain in various ways, mostly from too much computer time. People beware! If you are typing and get any neck, back, hand or arm pain - for the love of your own body - stop. Before it becomes chronic. You don't realize how much you need your hands until you can't use them. 

Well on that note - I should probably stop typing.

Netherlands Concerts -

We are still booking house concerts in the Netherlands.

The 4th, 5th, and 6th of January are still available. 

We will close booking on Oct 22nd. So write me soon if you'd

Progress of the New CD

I'm still working on my new release. 

Saving cash to record the string parts at the moment.

It's my best I think. I've been trying out some 

awesome guitar effects, and other atmospheric

things to make this cd flow really well. 

Currently working on the order of the songs - 

a crucial part to a successful album as I see it. 

I love those albums that just flow from 

one song to the next.

I generally tend to think less is more as far 

as number of songs on an album. 

But no less than 10 I think - it's got to be worth the money.

For you to buy it and for me to put it out. 

But since most of my songs are 5-6 minutes,

that would be a good hour of music.

What do you think is a good number of songs?

Other Projects

In addition to finishing up the details of my new CD, 

I've been recording acoustic guitar for Victoria's

new CD. She'll record vocals this month in a great studio in the area. I'll record bass and electric guitar for it as well.

I'm also doing some studio work for a very talented friend in Park City some nice wet sounding slippery guitar.

I'm also teaching guitar lessons to a handful of students

it's fun to be teaching again. 

That's about it.
